Facilities and Services

The primary aim of the library is to support the curriculum needs of the student, teaching staff & supporting staff of the institution through the development of all kind of pertinent collections of books, journals, magazines etc. The provision of services designed to meet the user information and learning need such as Book Bank Service, Lending Service, Digital Library Service, Multimedia and Periodical service.

Those who intend to use the library facilities are required to enroll themselves as member of library by filling the membership form along with 4 passport size photographs.

  • Library is fully computerized by using NEWGENLIB automation software, which supports the in-house operations of the library such as acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials control and OPAC. Database is updated day by day with newly acquired books and available books.

    • Circulation system has been implemented successfully by implementing the Bar-code technology for all the resources and user barrower cards and ID Cards.

  • It's only one library among all the Engineering Colleges in Hassan, issuing a set of books from college Book Bank Facility to all the FC and FCD students to keep themselves for a whole semester.
  • General reading room - where students can bring their own personal books to study.
  • Online access to the e-resources subscription through VTU Consortium of IEEE/IEL online, Springer, ASCE, Science Direct, Knimbus Remote Access. These services are IP enabled and can be accessed in BCE Digital Library only.

    CD/DVDs will be issued to the student and staff members for one week.

    The Library & Information Centre provides "Question Bank" of previous years question papers for reference to prepare better for examination and also users can get the question papers through BCE library OPAC.

    1. Journals: Library provides the E - journals & Print journals related to various disciplines to staff and students for teaching and research oriented programs.
    2. Magazines/Newspapers: Library provides the subjective & general magazines and daily news papers.

    It allows the users to search the library holdings such as books and question papers, E-books. It will help principally to locate books and other material available in the library. The library catalogue is searched by author wise, title wise and keyword.

    Reference books are meant for in-sit reference only.

  • The student who belongs to SC/ST category may become a member of this book bank by submitting filled membership application along with caste certificate, and 2 passport size photographs.
  • Members of the book bank will be issued 10 textbooks for each semester.
  • Books shall be returned within two days after the completion of their theory examination, otherwise a fine of Rs.2/- per day will be charged.
  • A separate book bank facility is available for meritorious & deserving students. At present the eligibility criteria to become the member of the book bank is as follows:

    1. They should have secured minimum first class in the previous semester.
    2. Applications for the membership will be issued after the pronouncement of results in the library department. Filled application will be received within a week after announcement of the university result.
    3. Full set of textbooks will be issued for whole semester.
    4. Books shall be returned within two days after the completion of theory examination, otherwise a fine of Rs. 2/- per day will be charged.

    Books will be issued on production of the library card along with college ID card. Students are instructed to check the physical condition of the book while borrowing and they will be held responsible for any type of damage noticed at the time of return.

    Borrower’s Tickets are not transferable. The use of the card is restricted to the user to whom the card is issued

    All books on loan shall be returned on or before the due date stamped on the Due-Date-Slip in the last page of book, failing which overdue charges shall be realized from the borrower. Repeated violation of this rule by the member, may lead to suspension or cancellation of the membership.

    Borrower is required to handle the books/ journals very carefully. Marking with pen or pencil, writing or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously and borrower shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue. In such case the borrower has to replace the new book of the same title and author of latest edition.

    Books shall be re-issued to the same borrower at once only. But, if there is a demand for the book, the request for renewal may be turned down by the library.

    The librarian can recall books at any time, if need arises.

    A book on loan can be reserved for a member on his/her formal request or online request through OPAC. The requester shall collect the book within one day from the date of issue of notice. Failing which same shall go back in normal circulation and the reservation of book will be cancelled.

    If the book is lost or damaged by the member shall be replaced either with latest edition of the same title and author or the double the cost of the book shall be charged. Indian edition shall be replaced by Indian edition and the foreign by the foreign edition.

    Lost or Damage of borrowed material must be immediately reported in writing. The replacement charge for lost material will also include overdue charges, if applicable.

    In case of loss of Borrower’s card, the member must report immediately to the library. The duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.100/- and resubmit the application form with a photograph.

    In case of loss of Digital ID card, the member must report the librarian immediately. Duplicate Digital ID will be issued on payment of Rs 200/- as a fine. Members must submit the letter to librarian along with 2 passport size photograph to get the duplicate Digital ID card.

    Any user found guilty of misconduct with library staff members will be referred to Dean (Academics) / Principal for disciplinary action.
